The parent workshop- Nurturing Courage and Competence- Helping Your Child Cope with Anxiety will be offered live streaming on Wednesday February 8th and Wednesday February 22nd from 7:30 to 9pm (EST).
I will offer another parent workshop focused on OCD: Nurturing Courage and Competence- Helping Your Child Cope with OCD if there is sufficent interest
This workshop is a 2 part series each segment an hour and a half long with question and answer period. The goal is to help parents to understand the nature of anxiety and to help their children cope with it and flourish.
In the first part, parents will learn about the nature of anxiety in children; how it impacts thoughts, feelings and behaviors, and how parents can use strategies to help their child cope with anxiety. The second part focuses on how to apply these child and parent strategies to handle typical difficult times with children with anxiety (e.g., school mornings, stomachaches, homework, bedtime, trying new things, etc). Also the workshop will address how parents can take care of themselves so they can take care of their child.
Parents really appreciate the support of meeting with other parents who understand the challenges they face. This workshop can jump start or add to a child's individual treatment. Many parents say they do not get enough guidance at times in individual therapy on how to coach their children in anxious moments or how to handle day to day struggles.
Cost is $50 for both sessions, $75 for 2 adults same family (e.g parents, grandparent, nanny).
This worskop will be offered on a Saturday in the next few months if there is sufficient registration
A follow on monthly parent support group is avaiable for interested parents after completing the workshop
To register for any of these workshop options, for more information, or to be added to the mailing list, email Dr. Lynne Siqueland at email@example.com.
